jaded, having a blogging break
I'm going to have a short break from the blog - feeling a little tired and jaded with stuff going on, so it's time for a break. I was so happy to see so many comments sending sympathy for my earache but very disappointed not to see any advice from CI users.
This made me think I'm becoming too blog dependent, if you see what I mean. So it's time for a short break
We are off on a week's vacation to Boston on Saturday, then I'll see where I am going, blah, blah.
I'd like to leave you with a photo, but blogger won't let me upload one. more blah

aggh, i've got a cold, what about my implant?
I have a head cold and a cough my first since my implant. I don't like it much either. Apart from it being hard to hear again my head is full of snot. Call me mucus woman. I don't know if I am imagining pain around the ear or if it's real. Definitely swollen glands down that side and a throat so sore it's like swallowing razor blades. On top of that I have a temporary crown which is begining to hurt too on that side.
This is a blatant request for sympathy.
It's also a more serious request for information from those with cochlear implants. Is is different? A cold with a CI? I know that an ear infection should be treated as an emergency but this is just head stuff.
Yuck
The flower? It's from someone at work's garden. It's huge, you can see the width of the desk it's on. I want one for my garden.

september morning walk- sights and sounds
For some strange reason I was up early and out for a walk by 7.30. Strange as I am not a morning person and even stranger as I am working this evening so could in all conscience have had a lie in.
But I didn't and headed off with my camera to take these photos. I did put my appliances of science in and around my ears so there's no need for anyone to check. When I got to the bridge I stood and watched this fisherman and his boat float by. It was so quiet. A beautiful rich silence that really was there, not imposed by my lack of hearing.

100 yard diet
On Sunday MLM and I went to lunch at a friend's home. Jessica and her Lovely Man, Ryan, have a farm near Peterborough. Ryan has sheep and Jessica grows vegetables - heirloom varieties - to sell on Peterborough and Oshawa farmer's markets.
We had a yummy meal of lamb kebabs, veggies, tomato and feta salad, and homemade fries. Pretty much everything on the plate was grown or raised within 100 yards of that dining table. How cool is that? 100 mile diet is for amateurs, 100 yards is hardcore.
Multi coloured carrots, potatoes, beets, tomatoes, beans, zucchini, peppers, onions, herbs, all grown from seed by Jess. The fall will have squash of many different types. I love squash
Jess sent us home with bags of fresh veggies to supplement our homegrown supplies.
So folks if you are in the area, get your veggies from Jess at the market, you won't go wrong.
