Ontario’s 2012 theme - Celebrate. Participate. - encourages older adults to stay active in their communities and reminds us all to honour the seniors in our lives.
The theme also creates momentum for the upcoming Ontario 55+ Summer Games, taking place this August in Brampton. The games will attract active seniors from across the province to compete in a wide range of sports, from tennis and pickleball to cribbage and euchre.
June is also Recreation and Parks Month, and for the second year in a row, the Ontario Seniors’ Secretariat is partnering with Parks and Recreation Ontario for our June celebrations.
I encourage Ontarians across the province to attend Seniors’ Month events. These include award ceremonies, recognition events, socials and seniors’ information fairs.
Sincerely,
Linda Jeffrey
Minister Responsible for Seniors
