MacIsaac is well known as a community builder. He is the recipient of both the Canada 125 and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medals. Currently the president of Mohawk College, he led the transformation of Mohawk's main campus and has positioned the college as a hub for post-secondary education and applied research in health and technology for the Golden Horseshoe area. Prior to joining Mohawk, MacIsaac was the Chairman of Metrolinx, the transportation authority of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, and served three terms as Mayor of the City of Burlington from 1997 to 2006.
