Ontario Government Supporting Seniors, Helping People in Their Everyday Lives

Ontario will offer more support for seniors across the province through a new Seniors Community Grant Program.
Premier Kathleen Wynne visited the Adult Recreation Centre in Waterloo today, where she announced that the government is introducing the Seniors Community Grant Program to give seniors more opportunities to participate in their communities. The program will provide funding to not-for-profit community groups for projects that encourage greater social inclusion, volunteerism and community engagement for seniors across the province.

This will be the first grant program in Ontario dedicated solely to supporting seniors.
Giving seniors more opportunities to engage with their communities is part of Ontario's Action Plan for Seniors. This is part of the Ontario government's economic plan to invest in people, build modern infrastructure and support a dynamic and innovative business climate.

Quick Facts:
...The grants may range from $500 to $10,000 to help support initiatives that will allow seniors to continue to contribute to all aspects of community life.
...By 2016, for the first time, people over 65 will account for a larger share of the population than children aged 0-14.
